A couple of years ago as I was driving through town I popped in Relient K's album, Forget And Not Slow Down. As I was listening with excitement of my brand new cd a song called "Therapy" came on and as I was listening a very striking line stuck out to me. It was an answer to a question that I had been asking God for several years, the line was:
"Loneliness and solitude are two things not to get confused
Cause I spend my solitude with you
I gather all the questions of the things I just can't get straight
And I answer them the way I guess you'd do"
Wow...really? God is it really that simple? You bet it is! I thought I was a lonely individual, someone with a longing of unanswered relationship that I had been seeking all of these years. But it was the kind of relationship with "the one" that I longed for. Sure I have a good relationship with God, but I want a girlfriend here and now. The problem is that I didn't know that God wanted me to single for a time.
Yep, I am still single and proud of it! God is preparing me to be a man, that spiritual leader we as men are told that we should be. You know you just can't go out and hike a mountain in a day without preparation. God has been preparing me. I am not alone. I am in a place of Solitude. A place or position to focus on Him and not everything else going on around me!
Now this doesn't mean that I don't ever think about being married, cause I do. I am just in a place of preparation. Jesus is my trainer, the Bible is my manual, and I am the student. That's pretty stinkin' cool!
